Source: the Michigan Department of State's Voter Participation Dashboard, which reports daily absentee applications, ballots sent and ballots returned, early in-person votes and registered voters for all 83 counties and 1,521 cities and townships, for 2026 and the 2024 general, plus its four weekly absentee reports from the 2022 midterm. Counts are cumulative through the date shown. Michigan has no party registration, and its voter file records no race, so there are no party or race splits.
Where 2026 stands
Cumulative ballots by day
Each line is the running total of early ballots by days before Election Day: absentee ballots returned to clerks plus votes cast at early voting sites. Both elections fall on a Tuesday, so the same day count lands on the same weekday. 2024 runs to Election Day; 2026 stops at the latest day; 2022, a midterm with absentee voting only, has four weekly points. Statewide early in-person voting opens on the second Saturday before Election Day (Oct 24, 2026; Oct 26, 2024), and some cities open earlier.

Absentee applications, ballots sent and returned
The absentee pipeline for : applications on file, ballots mailed or handed out, and ballots back with the clerk, each cumulative by day. The return rate is ballots returned divided by ballots sent. Since 2022, voters can join a permanent absentee list, so most applications are already on file before ballots go out 40 days before the election.
At the same day
Early ballots per 100,000 registered voters
Early ballots divided by registered voters in the same county, per 100,000 of them, so counties of very different size can be compared. Each 2026 dot sits beside the same county's 2024 figure at the same day; 2024 divides by the registration of that day in 2024. Click a row to make that county the geography for every section.
